Celebrate the Artists

Artist: Heather Bowser

Heather L. Bowser is an artist from York, Pennsylvania. She studied fine art at
Carnegie-Mellon University and the San Francisco Art Institute. Also, she took
courses in anthropology and philosophy at Penn State University. One of Heather’s professors stated
that “drawing is a history of mark-making” and Heather begins each drawing not
knowing how it will look when it is completed. She reflects on the drawing as it
evolves until the “next right thing” becomes apparent to her. She is currently
working on paper with crayon, colored pencil and marker.

Heather was diagnosed with bipolar
disorder at the age of 27 and vigilantly does all that she can to manage the
symptoms of her illness. Now in her 40s, she is looking for opportunities to
show and sell her artwork.
